Working for a Nonprofit Organization

Working for nonprofit organizations has its advantages and disadvantages, although, according to Laura Otting, the bad is “easily trumped by the good.” Otting’s article, titled, Advantages and Disadvantages to Working in the Nonprofit Sector, discusses the good and the bad. Many people realize that working for nonprofit organizations sometimes means a higher risk, a higher burnout rate, and an occasionally frustrating environment. This article, however, clearly states that the advantages far outweigh the disadvantages. Working for a nonprofit first and foremost means that you’re working for a cause, and usually, it’s something that you can personally be passionate about. The opportunity to help, relieve others, change the world, or lend a hand is always around the corner.
